Why we're getting behind Katie, Anya and Georgie, and London 2012.

We are delighted to announce that we are now supporting local synchronised swimmers, Katie Dawkins and Anya Tarasiuk, and local hockey player, Georgie Twigg, as they attempt to qualify for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Following the appointment of BMW Group as the Official Automotive Partner of the 2012 Games, BMW is now actively supporting British athletes, such as Ellie Simmonds and Louis Smith, via the BMW London 2012 Performance Team. Meanwhile, in line with the Performance Team initiative, BMW dealers like us will be working with local athletes, supporting their endeavours to qualify for Team GB or ParalympicsGB.

All three athletes live locally. Katie and Anya train at the Aldershot Garrison Sports Centre, while Georgie trains at Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre in Marlow.

Katie and Anya have been synchronised swimming together since 2009 and have already won two bronze medals at the 2011 European Champions Cup.

Georgie has been playing hockey since she was four and she has already been awarded ‘England Hockey – Young Player of the Year 2010’. She won bronze medals at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, World Cup and Champions Trophy.

‘We're really grateful to Dick Lovett Bristol and BMW for their support,’ said Katie, Anya and Georgie. ‘It's tough trying to qualify for a place at the Olympic Games and it's a big help knowing that they are behind us, helping to raise funds and awareness. It's also fantastic having brand new cars from now until the end of the 2012 Games. There's a lot of travelling to heats, competitions and promotional events, so it's great being able to arrive there in style.’
